Cat Megapost!!

Everyone knows that cats are one of the main symbols of a hipster. Cats are so popular right now, and there are so many different kinds of cat-themed things out there! After Christmas, my family and I sort of realized that I own (possible too much) of  those kinds of things. After a lot of urging from my mom, I decided to put together this post to show off my cat-lady-ness.

The cats above are make up my cat statue collection, which is small, but has been around for a while.

Tis is the fourth member of that collection, but since it has a greater purpose-holding my rings- it got it's own picture.

Speaking of jewelry, here are a few pairs of my cat earrings.

This (above) is my favorite pair. They've been worn the most, and have been through a lot. One time, I was at a coffee shop with my friends, and one of them randomly fell out, and into the cup of tea I was drinking. A sign maybe? It was very funny. They're my lucky earrings.

I think lucky cats are the coolest thing ever. They are also called Maneki-neko, and I have three pairs of earrings with them on them. Unfortunately I lost one of the third pair, and didn't take a picture of them.

My mom has a Maneki-neko stamp. It's adorable!

Stationary is another one of my obsessions, and these little Japanese cat envelopes are some of my favorites. I got them in Philly, at the little Chinatown section there.

Here comes more stationary!

I got this set for Christmas, but you can get it here

{Switching gears a bit from Japanese themed to vintage}

Here is another stationary/parcel set I got for Christmas. Its amazing!

It came with so much cute stuff! There were gift bags, tags, and stickers.

You can get the set here.

Here is my last bit of cat stationery (for now). It's a card from Franki.

A cat stamp!

Cat lip balm! It's sparkly and smells just like watermelon jolly ranchers. You can get it here.

A super kitschy cat barrette! This was a gift and I could not find a link to another one online:(

My favorite phone case. It's from Threadless a long time ago, and I don't think they sell them anymore.

Above is a picture of some new fabric that my mom got me for Christmas. It's my own print, of a painting I did. My mom got this made at Spoon Flower. Have fun!

Next on my cat-list is Catopoly. A way more fun version of Monopoly. Seriously.

Even the pieces are more fun!

Also, your cat will love it! Mine does!

Next up is some cat temporary tattoos. They're soo cool and I cannot wait to try them. I'll try and post pictures when I do. These were from UO, but I couldn't find them on the site.
However, if you want them, you can find them on this site.

Urban is a great place for getting funky cat stuff, and much of mine is from there. This is one of my favorites:

A cat hanger! When they were first being sold, they came in many different animals, but the cat was the most popular. Now I think there is only wolf, dog and skeleton. No cat:( but you can still check them out here!

I have come to my last collection of cat stuff. And I saved the best for last! My cat t-shirts!

This is my hipster cat shirt.

Second in my t-shirt collection is this yin-yang cat eye shirt. It's also from Etsy. Actually, almost all of these shirts are.

The shirt below is my current cat favorite. It's hilarious, and extremely comfy. Plus, the creator of it is soo cool.

It's made by this pet photographer (what a fun job that would be!!) in Philly. Here's his site. I dare you to check it out. If you want the shirt, get it here. Even better, 5 dollars will go to a cat adoption center in CA!

I love this shirt (above) because the cat on it looks just like my cat, Ruby. She was the one on Catopoly earlier in the post.

This last one it soo cute. I wear it all the time.

So that's my collection, well, most of it at least. But this post isn't over yet! I went searching for some cool cat stuff that I didn't have, and came across some great finds.

Aren't these fantastic?! Get them here!

This is the purrrrfect tea pot for a crazy cat lady (which I will be one day). It's a set for one. UO sells it here

This  cat skirt is crazy! It's made by the designer Joseph Aaron Segal, also known as Pretty Snake. He was on Project Runway a few seasons ago, and was my favorite designer. He's obsessed with cat's, and almost all of the clothing he sells are cat-themed. I bought this pair of earrings from him, and it was so cool because I posted a picture of them and he commented on it! Even if you don't want to buy anything, you should look around on his site because it's so fun!

This jumper was something I obsessed over for so long, and Lazy Oaf just quit selling it. It matches the tea pot for one so well!

I'd totally wear this cat eye sweater, also from the Pretty Snake shop.

For my last section of this post, I will leave you with some cat-tastic videos.

Enjoy!

{mini post} a link to check out.

I know that technically, the Christmas holiday isn't actually over, and that it goes until January, but since Christmas day is over, it feels like it. Even though I love opening presents, and giving presents and the while shebang, I am ready to get back into my routine and get to work. It will be nice to give my silk-screening kit a try, and my Velvet Underground records a spin. This time of year is so busy, and I'm looking forward to the calmness afterwords.

Well, I'm sure you didn't come to listen to me talk about the holidays, since you can probably listen to other people doing that on about a thousand other blogs, so I'll stop, and get to the point of this post.

Recently, I posted a picture on Instagram of sushi that my mom had made for dinner. I hashtagged it #whatveganseat, because that's a really fun hashtag to explore, especially if you're vegan. Very quickly, this account found the picture through the tag, and asked if the picture could be used in their online zine! I was so excited! It sounded really cool, and of course I said yes, and I also said that I would put a link to it on my blog. So here I am!

The magazine is quarterly, and costs five dollars, but it's really interesting,  it's digital so you can just read it on your computer, like, right now.
If you don't wanna pay to read the magazine but just want to see my picture, here ya go. Vegan sushi!

christmas came early

It's not even Christmas yet, and I am already blogging about one of my presents. Ha! Well, this one is too good not to share, and I am ecstatic about it!
As soon as it came in the mail, I could tell who it was from. It was wrapped beautifully, tied with a ribbon, and it even had a cute tag with my name on it. Definitely the work of my mom's good friend John (whom I adore.)

So, as you can see, it's a gorgeous handmade journal, with a Union Jack flag on the front. How cool!!!
I'm so so obsessed with it!

It even has an I on it, for India of course.

It continued to be beautiful, the more I opened it.

I don't think any journal in the world can compete with this.

I am torn, because I want to draw like crazy in it, but I am also scared of doing anything to mess it up.

John, if you're reading this-and Daryl too;)-THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am in love with this gift. You are so amazing!

It's so photogenic as well, I couldn't help but take a whole bunch of pictures of it from multiple angles.

I hope that everyone has a terrific Christmas and I will try to write again as soon as I can! I still have a lot to share, but have been busy with making Christmas gifts lately, which I will post a few pictures of a some point.

Recap

Holy cow. It's been a while since I've written. Not to sound cliche, but lately life has been hectic and I have gotten around to blogging. But I have so much to share!

I'm currently laying on the sofa with a bad cold. Fun. So anyway, why not blog a little bit?

Unfortunately I had to skip my Saturday art class :( which is a bummer since I look forward to it all week, but there's something else that makes up for it.
And that something would be....drumroll please....

A Great Pyrenees puppy!!! My family has never had a puppy before now! We have had her for around 4 hours, and we've already all fallen in love with her. She's laying next to me at this very moment.
It's funny too, because I've always been much more of a cat person, but I love her like I love kittens! We don't have a perfect name for her just yet, but soon enough we will.

That's the most exciting thing that has happened lately, but i do have a couple random pictures on my phone to share.

First of all, here's a picture of a quirky pair of socks I got at the thrift store on Black Friday. Ive never actually shopped on Black Friday before, but do thrift stores really count?

I watched moonrise kingdom with a friend who had never seen it before-how can that be possible!?!-, and hopefully she liked it. It is probably a little weird for someone who's not used to Wes Anderson.

I made some ezra bracelets because I love him so much. I also made some that say Sherlock Holmes for my Sherlock-obsessed friend.

My mom and I visited a fantastic Duane Michaels exhibit at our favorite musuem. The Andy Warhol picture was my favorite.

I started to make more pins, and they actually turned out really nice! I will be posting pictures soon.

Lastly, I started a new journal (because I don't have enough started already?!) and drew some plants like I used to.

Well, that's all I have for now, but hopefully will be back soon.

Mostly Vintage: Playlist Number 2

These are some of the songs I have found myself listening to the most lately, and decided to share them in playlist form. Most of the songs are oldies (from different time periods, but still) and there's a Mac Demarco one mixed in, since it really went with the rest of the mix. Click on the picture to listen to the mix on 8tracks! You won't be disappointed.

Like I said before, Patti Smith and the Velvet Underground are two of my favorites currently. I centered the mix around them, but put other stuff on it too. Well, there isn't much more to say, so I'll let the songs do the talking.

Athletic Aesthetic

I made a gif! Yippee!
Basically the purpose of it was to share with you my very sporty/girly outfit from last week
My skirt and socks were from American Apparel, my shoes are Adidas Sambas, and my shirt was thrifted.
Unfortunately this is the extent of my posting today. I do have more to post soon, so stay tuned! For now just be hypnotized and dizzied by this gif since it is never-ending. Hopefully everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving.

Friday Night Art Night

Since my new bedroom is starting to feel like the perfect little nook to make art, sip tea, and listen to records in, I invited my friend over to make art and hangout with me. It was a blast! We walked home  from school together, got out some snacks and went right to work!
She was looking through one of my old abandoned journals.
Some supplies we used. Yes, sushi is a supply. It is necessary.
It got messier the more we worked.
We listened to an entire Vampire Weekend record, then switched to some alt-j∆ and some other indie-synthy music. The entire situation was very "indie" Because most teens spend friday nights at the ice rink, or at a movie or something mainstream and "fun" but not us. You know in movies, how there is always that group of kids who really don't follow the main trends, and are quiet at school, and dress really cool and indie-ish? Maybe it'd just be easier to say the wallflower group. Well, my school doesn't have that. it just has the two of us. So we had our own mini party in my room, including lots of paint and music and tea. What could be better?
My friend and I went through a bunch of Nylon mags for some inspiration. It's such a cool magazine for that.
 They're cohesive!
I guess we had a bit of an Asian theme, green tea, sushi, and the best mochi in the entire world! I could live off of mochi.

So overall, it was a really fun friday night! We discussed song lyrics and magazines and aesthetics (that has got to be the most difficult word to spell) and other similar topics! It's so fun to have a friend that is very much into the same things as you are, especially art! I can't wait to do it again.

Transitions

As of right now, my life seems to be going through a couple of changes. Maybe not just my life, actually, but the world around me as well. Starting off with the weather.
I guess it isn't such a great idea to go to California in November, because while you're gone, Pennsylvania will just decide to completely skip fall and go straight into winter. So when you get home, instead of a nice warm welcome, you receive a cold, 15 degree slap in the face. The worst part is that it is only November, and it will get colder. Hmph. Winter is not my friend.
So, that's the first transition. The second one would be my sudden transition of bedrooms. After being in the biggest room in the house for a while, I decided I just wasn't feeling it anymore, and it didn't make me think of a typical angsty-teen-girl bedroom. I envisioned one that was much cozier, with lot's of stuff on the wall, and a shelf filled with art supplies and magazines and stationary. A room I can play music in and attempt to dance around to the Violent Femmes like Angela Chase did in My So Called Life. Anything to be like Angela Chase, really.
Here comes another transition! Change in role models, or idols I could say! Hmm, this one is harder to describe. I go through lots of phases of who I look up to, or want to be like. Last year, it was Luanna P. from Le-Happy, then Angela from MSCL, then a dash of Winnie Cooper here and there. Now it's edging towards Patti Smith and The Velvet Underground, ya know, those sort of lo-fi 70's rocker vibes.  Although I still am a bit influenced by Winnie, considering my hair is just like hers. Patti Smith just has this thing where every time I here her or see her picture, I just think, man, why is she that cool? I can't describe it really. She's just so so so cool. I haven't even read all of Just Kids yet, I've only listened to parts of it on a long drive with my family, before I was really into her. And the Velvet Underground, well, my mom has been pushing me towards them for a while, and since I was obsessed with Mac Demarco for a little while, the second I heard them I was reminded of him and was hooked instantly. I'm guessing he was really influenced by Lou Reed's style, since his very much resembles it. Now that I think about it, that would also be a music transition too.

These aren't my pictures, they're from tumblr, but they're too cool not to post and I needed some visuals anyway.

Oh, before I go, I have one more thing to say! Stay tuned to this blog for a bit, because I have an exciting project that will soon be posted. No hints, except that it will be entertaining. I promise.

Who Needs Jamba Juice?

No more mysteries about the content of this post! So, it's obviously a DIY acai bowl kinda thing, and absolutely anyone ca do it, but the main purpose of it is for the East Coast people (like me) who don't have a juice place on every single street, selling these bowls of healthy deliciousness. Wow, that sounded pretty cliche. But it's totally true! They are actually so good! In Pennsylvania, I have yet to come across a place selling them, but in California, they were everywhere! This frustrated me, since I already felt like those Californians were living in luxury compared to us, but this too?! So I decided to make my own.

Let me just say it was extremely easy, and there are so any variations! This is just a very basic one.

I wouldn't recommend adding the cat! It's a little too furry and ruins the flavor!

This part is not limited to what I've shown! Do whatever you want with it!

Those little pinkish circles definitely do not resemble banana coins, but that is what they are.

And tada! It's not the prettiest work of art, but it tasted so, so good.
